Happy Birthday Peter Orlovsky!

Peter Orlovsky would’ve been 77 today had he not passed away on May 30th.

Most famous for his relationship with the Beat Generation, and in particular his long-time lover Allen Ginsberg, Orlovsky was also a poet in his own right.

His obituary appeared in Issue Seven of Beatdom.

Quick Update

I’ve been busy getting issue seven ready these past few weeks, and cconsequently haven’t been updating this blog as much as I’d like. Hopefully that will change after the release, which is scheduled for next month.

The Beatdom Facebook page is doing well. I’m always happy to see people participating. This isn’t the sort of magazine I want people just to read… I want you all to feel like part of the Beatdom family. I know that sounds silly and cheesy… but there you go. It’s true.

RIP Peter Orlovsky

Sorry for the lateness of this post… I’ve been busy putting together Beatdom #7 and simply didn’t have the time to write even a few words until today.

Peter Orlovsky passed away May 30th with poet Anne Walden by his side, and a photo of his long-time partner, Allen Ginsberg, on a wall near his bed.

Orlovsky was more than Ginsberg’s lover. He was a poet, teacher and traveller in his own right. I suggest that we all now take the time to consider his life.

Please also take a look at Anne Waldman’s short depiction of his final days.
